The former gold mining town of Mbeya is located at an altitude of 1700m and is surrounded by high mountains. Because of its location on a highland valley, Mbeya is also called the Scotland of Africa.
The Mbeya region has many interesting tourist attractions; high mountain peaks, exciting waterfalls, green lakes, a meteorite and the garden of God.

About Mbeya City
The thriving city of Mbeya sprawls in the shadow of Loleza Peak (2,656m).

Mbeya offers a range of activities from safaris, hill walking, horse riding, bird watching to fishing.

Animals in the environment
In the town of Mbeya itself there are no wild animals, just the usual pets and birds.
In the area you will find Rungwe forest vipers, Colobus monkeys and a variety of antelopes, birds and butterflies.
