A huge variety of landscapes
Away from the crowds you are in this unspoilt and rugged safari area in southern Tanzania, with remote and small-scale accommodations deep in nature.
During this special example trip you will visit the unspoilt, rugged Ruaha National Park. Tanzania’s largest national park consists of an undulating plateau with rock formations and baobab trees, and large groups of animals around the Ruaha River. Travel schedule
Your safari starts as soon as you step off the plane in Ruaha.
The Ruaha National Park is a very large park and impressive because of the wide variety of landscapes and animals. Unspoilt and remote, the park has so much to offer. From several locations you go on foot and by jeep in search of the wild animals, which often live around the (often dry) Ruaha River. A night safari is also on the program.
Dar es Salaam
The journey starts in Dar es Salaam; the capital of Tanzania.
You will be received at the airport and enjoy your first evening in a comfortable and tastefully decorated hotel conveniently located away from the airport, on the water in a suburb of Dar es Salaam. A nice place to enjoy a snack and drink in the evening after the flight.
Ruaha
Early in the morning you will take a beautiful domestic flight from Dar es Salaam. You fly over endless wildlife areas to Ruaha National Park. Upon arrival you will be welcomed by your guide and the safari will immediately begin en route to your lodge.
If you choose the select option, you will spend the first nights just outside the park in a protected wildlife area. A beautiful environment that enjoys extra protection and is very suitable for exploring on foot. In addition to these walking safaris, you can take (open) jeep safaris here, even at night if you want. It is also possible to visit a village in the area and learn from the locals.
The exclusive option takes you deep into the park at one of the most beautiful locations in the park, on a slope with a beautiful and wide view over the Ruaha valley and the Mwagusi river. You will make your first safaris by open jeep or on foot, led by top guides. You can relax by the pool.
Ruaha - continued
After a delicious breakfast, you will depart on a domestic flight to your next lodge in a completely different and magnificent location.
During the second half of your trip, you will explore this rugged park that owes its name to the Ruaha River in an open jeep. The river attracts many animals all year round. Impalas, waterbucks, lions, elephants, buffalos and the endangered African wild dog, among others, live in this park. Ruaha also has a lot to offer for bird watchers.
If you choose the exclusive option, it is now your turn to go on a walking safari led by a top guide and ranger and thoroughly enjoy all the beauty that this park has to offer. Of course you can also take (open) jeep safaris here, during the day and/or at night.
Back home
At the end of the afternoon you fly from Ruaha National Park – via Dar es Salaam or Nairobi – back to Amsterdam where you arrive the next morning.
Or extend your safari with, for example, a beach holiday on Zanzibar-, Pemba- or Mafia Island.
Trip details
Your safari in Ruaha National Park will be in open jeeps, together with any other guests from the camp. You can decide on the spot what your day will look like. A full day or part day on safari by jeep or on foot, or would you rather relax? It’s up to you!
