About Rufiji Explorers Camp

Not far from the Mtemere gate just outside the Nyerere National Park, hidden in the forests overlooking the winding Rufiji River lies the small-scale Rufiji Explorers Camp.

Following in the footsteps of the old explorers and adventurers, you sit around the campfire and listen in awe to all the sounds of nature.
From here you explore the river by canoe or boat.

Adventurous and back-to-basic. How close to nature do you want to get?

The property

The four atmospheric and authentic ox carts of Rufiji Explorers Camp are equipped with their own viewing deck and everything else you need for a good night’s sleep.

At Rufiji Explorers Camp, cooking is done in the traditional way on a fire in pots (Dutch ovens) or on a spit. All ingredients are fresh and local.

In addition, the (Dutch) owner of Rufiji Explorers Camp tries to buy as many local products from this village as possible.

And, in addition to the annual lease, part of the income is donated to the village and the village school and community center are supported with donations.
