What was the moment when you thought, “Wow, I’m never going to forget this”?

The balloon safari. It was incredible and breathtakingly beautiful. And then there was our early-morning encounter with 14 lions, all incredibly close to us.

What surprised or moved you about Tanzania? Perhaps something you hadn’t expected beforehand?

The sheer vastness, the diversity of the landscapes, the incredibly kind people, how well everyone spoke English, the wonderful service at the accommodations and our fantastic guide. There’s simply too much to mention. Tanzania, in all its beauty, has found a place in our hearts.

How did you experience meeting the people and experiencing the culture? Think about conversations with your guide, local customs and hospitality.

Our guide Sammy was absolutely fantastic. We really appreciated how he avoided the crowds and searched for special moments just for us, rather than simply joining a line of other safari jeeps.

We felt completely at ease with him and always safe. He went out of his way to give us an unforgettable safari, and he certainly succeeded. We couldn’t have wished for a better guide!

What would you recommend future travellers definitely shouldn’t miss?

I would have loved to visit the Maasai, so that’s something I would definitely recommend. It seems like a very special experience.

Visiting several different national parks also really added to our journey. Each landscape is different, which means every safari feels like a new experience.

What are you taking home from this journey, in your head, your heart and/or your suitcase? Something that has changed the way you do or see things, or that will simply stay with you forever.

Alongside 5,000 photos and countless memories of wonderful moments we shared as a family, I’m taking home an important lesson: to enjoy the beauty of the moment more, rather than getting caught up in everyday life and always living by the clock.
