The safari was the highlight of our trip
What was the moment you thought, “Wow, I’ll never forget this”?
The wonderful hotels and beautiful beaches of Zanzibar were unforgettable, as was the short safari we booked last minute from our first hotel, which Marjolijn had recommended to us beforehand. We initially went to Zanzibar for the peace and quiet, but couldn’t resist the combination of a safari and the experience. In retrospect, this was the highlight of our holiday!
What surprised or touched you about Tanzania?
Zanzibar is exactly what you imagine it to be: a tropical paradise. What struck us was that the people are cheerful and hospitable, despite often having very little. The nature is beautiful, tropical and colorful in Zanzibar, and in Nyerere Nationaal Park Simply breathtaking. During the safari, every landscape seemed completely different. Truly unforgettable!
How did you experience meeting the people and the culture?
The people were generally friendly and hospitable. Life is simple, yet warm; you truly feel welcome.
What would you recommend future travelers not to miss?
The safari in Nyerere was magical; from our tent at Lake Manze, we saw hippos and elephants walking by! In Zanzibar, we enjoyed a boat trip, a visit to a village, and of course, Stone Town. We even did a bike ride along the beach—super fun! By staying in four different hotels, we saw a lot of the island. A truly fantastic combination!
What will you take with you from this trip, in your head, heart, and/or travel bag?
Fond memories of the beautiful nature, culture, adventure, the tranquility, and especially the wonderful time together!
