Two brothers-in-law on safari!

Finally the time has come, we have landed at Kilimanjaro Airport and drive to The Rivertree Lodge in Arusha for a single overnight stay. We – Harno and Corné (brothers-in-law) – have wanted to make a nice safari for a long time and now we had the opportunity. With Explore Tanzania we have opted for a trip with three locations to stay.

Three days Chem Chem lodge, located on Lake Manyara. What an unprecedented service and what a professional and pleasant game drives with our super guide Nelson. On this beautiful private concession we see many giraffes, zebras, gazelles, elephants, buffaloes and also lions. Walking safari, bush breakfast, sundowers, it’s all really great. Relaxing in the gym or in the swimming pool and a good massage is also possible. The food is really a party and with Veronica serving daily, the party was complete! Compliments to this incredibly relaxed lodge with very friendly people!

Then three days in Karatu, we stayed here at the Plantation Lodge with hostess Renate, who provides enormous hospitality there. A beautiful garden and lovely swimming pool, an excellent starting point for a visit to the Ngorogoro crater. We also saw a lot of wildlife there and were able to take beautiful pictures. We had Aloyce as a guide (after leaving Chem Chem) who could tell us everything about the animals we saw. A good lunch box was brought along and we had a delicious meal at a beautiful pool where there were even hippos. The crater is really a recommendation to visit! Nearby are shops for souvenirs that you can visit with your guide.

Then three days in South Serengeti at Sancuary Kichakani Camp. A beautiful camp that travels with the wildebeest migration. Here too we have made great safaris and enjoyed the sunset (bush TV). Service fine, food good, view magnificent. At four o’clock in the morning we left for a beautiful balloon safari. What a great experience with beautiful views, sunrise, champagne breakfast, etc. From Serengeti we flew back to Arusha by plane and with a number of stops in between, that was also an experience in itself! Finally, an afternoon at Rivertrees to freshen up for the journey back to Amsterdam.

We enjoyed this wonderful journey of 11 days. The locations, the activities, the guides and the food, it was all great! We still enjoy the beautiful photos.
