A great guide makes a difference
Tanzania was a destination of many “firsts” for us: the first time travelling together, just the two dadas (sisters), our first time exploring the African continent, and our first game drives.
We decided we wanted a worry-free trip, combining the different aspects of Tanzania, and that is exactly what we got!
We were submerged in Tanzanian hospitality for two weeks, surrounded by stunning scenery. Being busy people, we found ourselves – surprisingly easily – adapting to the rhythm of nature.
Our highlights were our stay in the Serengeti Ndutu Kati Kati Tented Camp (the warmest people, the best “Bush TV” and the most exciting game drives) and our guide, Emmanuel. Having a great guide really makes a difference. We were lucky to rely on Emmanuel’s expertise. Thanks to his experience, we spotted not only the Big Five, but also other rare sightings like the Caracal and a mother lion with three cubs. And very importantly, we simply enjoyed nature, even when there weren’t any big cats or elephants around.
December was the perfect period; green, full of life and not too warm. The few short showers we had all happened in the evening. Moreover, the parks weren’t too busy. On some occasions, we even were the only ones out there, making the experience even more special.
For people who prefer a more active holiday, we highly recommend booking a bike or coffee tour, like the one at Lake Manyara or Arusha, which allows you to stretch your legs and meet locals. Keep an open mind, talk to as many people as possible (there is no such thing as too many questions in Tanzania!) and try all the food and drinks.
Our second week we spent in Zanzibar, including two nights in Stone Town. Zanzibar is an island of interesting contrasts. It’s a great destination if you enjoy a beach holiday (and if you are ready to sweat); getting out on the water is the thing to do.
Stone Town is full of life, and you should check out the market and the restaurants!
To conclude: Tanzania has a lot to offer, and you are welcomed with open arms. Thanks to Explore Tanzania we had an authentic, worry-free experience, characterized by lovely people, beautiful nature, and great organization.
