A welcome feeling

30 July 2025 | Wim & Marloes

What was the moment you thought: “Wow, I’ll never forget this”?
Two moments immediately come to mind:
The day after arriving, we took a tuk-tuk and driver to Moshi town center. We truly entered a different world: the roads, the people, the language.
And upon entering Tarangire National Park: the sight of the first elephants. Unbelievable!

What surprised or touched you about Tanzania?
The sense of community. There’s more attention and care for each other in Tanzania than we experience here in our society.
What I hadn’t anticipated was the fear at night after elephants surrounded our tent. It’s dark, and you can hear the elephants right around your tent for two hours. Exciting!

How did you experience meeting the people and the culture?
Open, friendly, and socially welcoming. You quickly feel connected to the people there; they make you feel very warm and welcome.

What would you recommend future travelers absolutely not to miss?
A trip to Tanzania is a must! And finally, visit the Africa Amini projects in Arusha. It would be wonderful if this could generate even more support by raising awareness.

What will you take with you from this trip, in your mind, heart, and/or travel bag?
We want to hold on to the grandeur of nature and pole pole for as long as possible. Just like hakuna matata!
