Shall we do it or don’t we?

Shall we do it or don’t we?
Well, we just got back.
Yes, but it was so beautiful.
Well, it’s such an expense.
Yes, but you’re alive now!

In short, after a few weeks of deliberation, our tickets to Tanzania were booked again within 4 months. This time via Explore Tanzania, not because our previous travel agency was bad, but because through Explore Tanzania we just received information about the corona measures about which the other travel agency had not given any statements or wrong statements and we only got more questions on this area.

This time the trip would only go to Ruaha without beach extension and the stay would also be Ikuka Safari Camp again. We never thought of another lodge or destination. Ikuka felt like home and with the possibility of walking safaris and fishing this was and still is our most favorite destination to date. The journey there also went well this time and where we already thought it was quiet in August, it was now completely quiet, especially in the Terminal for the national flights. A bit surreal even because we were the only ones. From here we flew in our “private” plane to Ruaha the next morning. A flight of almost two hours.

The landing was followed by a warm welcome from Geofrey the guide who had also provided us with a fantastic week in August, sharing his vast knowledge of the area with us. Immediately while driving to Ikuka, the first leopard was waiting for us under a large baobab tree. This sure promised something for next week.

We had already heard of the big difference in temperature during this period, but in practice it turned out to be really warm. That’s why the surprise was all the greater when it turned out that our “tent” had a lovely plunge pool.
The following days were a succession of getting up early and enjoying the game drives in beautiful Ruaha all day long. This alternated with two afternoons of fishing for tiger fish in a beautiful environment where the rod had to be turned in quickly because otherwise the crocodiles would run off with the fish.

The holiday kilos of Augustus were not completely gone yet but this time too the food was excellent again, from the delicious breakfast in the bush to dinner. Everything was equally delicious and fresh.

Well then the time had come to go home again we did this with great grief. The first plans have already been made for the month of May because we are sure to go back. Maybe this time with an extension somewhere else, but mainly to see Ruaha when the rivers still have water and enjoy the beautiful wild life this area has to offer.
