The trip fit us like a glove
We have just returned from a fantastic trip to Tanzania. We already had a bit of an ‘Africa experience’, but wanted to experience the beautiful, sometimes exciting atmosphere on the safari again. After some comparison we came across Explore Tanzania and it has exceeded our expectations. We have been listened to carefully and they have put together a wonderful trip in consultation with us. Lots of safari but also some moments of rest. We knew it can be very intensive on the roads with ‘African massage’ and constantly squinting to see if you can spot something.
We started at the beautiful lodge River Trees Country Inn, where we stayed for three nights. In addition to nature and wildlife, we always enjoy life in the villages along the street; we also want to be part of this. We went to Arusha town and spent some time here at the Cultural Heritage Centre. Beautiful art can be seen here.
The next day we set off with our guide Joseph to Arusha National park. A very nice park to start, even though many people skip this. We did a walking and canoe safari here. It was really special to walk among the giraffes, with buffaloes watching us. We have already seen beautiful things here thanks to the great guide, we had a lot of fun together.
The next day we were picked up by a driver from the Africa Amini Maasai lodge and we immersed ourselves in the Maasai culture for a day and night. Again walked between zebras and giraffes and enjoyed the dance during sunset.
The next morning Joseph picked us up here and the safari really started. We have immersed ourselves in nature, beautiful landscapes and wild animals for ten days. From Tarangire NP it went to Lake Manyara National Park where we cycled on the way. Beautiful overnight stay in the Green Camp there, with lots of elephants who came to quench their thirst in the river.
Then on to Ndutu and the South Serengeti. What a special landscape, now dry and almost empty, but in March green and full of young animals. We’d like to see that too. Then on to the north of the Serengeti where we spend three nights in the Green Camp Wilderness. What a beautiful place that was, where hospitality was visible in everything. From here we could easily go to the Mara river and we saw the crossing of hundreds of wildebeest. This makes you completely silent, the landscape with all those wildebeest is indescribable here.
On the way back to Arusha we visited the Ngorongoro crater. In everything, Joseph did his utmost to avoid the crowds (high season), which often succeeded. Sometimes we had the area to ourselves.
We really enjoyed the safaris and the beautiful country. We said goodbye to a great guide here who knows exactly what we thought was important. A professional who is always cheerful. We flew from Arusha to Zanzibar. Here we spent two days in Stonetown, which initially brought a culture shock. From bush to city is a big transition, but after a night’s sleep we really enjoyed the city. Finally, we had three more nights on the beach in Jambiani, where we really needed to rest and recover from all these impressions.
The trip was arranged down to the last detail and fit us like a glove. We are completely unburdened and the love for beautiful Tanzania was palpable in everything.
A journey/country that is in our hearts.
