My best experience (video)
We had an incredible experience in Nyerere National Park. For the past 2 months I have been traveling around the world. I have already visited several countries, from Japan and Thailand to Italy. Now I ended up in Tanzania where I went on a fantastic multi-day safari in Nyerere National Park. While the safari was definitely a splurge, it was 100% worth it. Some of my favorite memories were spent chatting with our guide, Kenneth, & the guides in training that would join for different segments. I found these guides in training to be such a benefit to our safari. They are so knowledgeable about everything: animals, birds, trees, migration patterns, national parks. They are always so willing to answer any of our questions about Tanzania as well.
I’ve seen elephants before at a sanctuary in Thailand and lions and giraffes and monkeys at the zoo, but seeing them in Nyerere National Park, in their natural habitat, is so incredible. It’s the search & waiting game that makes each animal spotting so special.
Selous Wilderness Camp was the best safari camp you can stay at in Nyerere! The camp is situated right on the river so we had great access to sunsets & boat safaris. Our boat safari group was the last one to stay by the sunset (the guides brought tables, chairs, wine & a snack). The service at Selous Wilderness Camp was incredible. The Maasai’s helped to walk us to our tent anytime it was dark and illuminated the pathway. The food was SO good (every single meal I ate every last bite). The camp was very quite & peaceful as well. The first night there was another group there but the second night we had all to ourselves.
