One with the bush
Five days in the wilderness of Tanzania: beautiful, impressive, the different experience.
The Selous Wilderness Camp is located on the Rufiji River, hidden among the trees. To get there you cross the river, which turns out to be full of hippos.
We are woken up early in the morning by a deafening concert of all the animals that surround us, we spend the days in the Nyerere National Park in the tranquility of the vast and unspoilt landscape. We let an extensive range of animals pass by, have exciting “close encounters” with elephants and lions and let nature do its work: “pole pole”, slowly.
Soon after the entrance to the park, the paths branch off and you are on your own; we had lunch in the bush, walked in the bush, fed in the bush, felt one with the bush. Not least because of our excellent and charming driver/guide Patrick.
From Dar es Salaam it is about a 6 hour drive to the camp and it slowly brings you into the safari atmosphere from a bustling city; highly recommended for those who also want to get acquainted with Tanzanian life outside the city.
Thanks to Explore Tanzania who had arranged the safari excellently; and finally, all the preparatory tips proved sufficient.
